A suburb about 2 km E by N of Cromer and about 2 km S of Narrabeen. An address locality. Boundaries and names within the Warringah Council area shown on map GNB3704. For: 'long swamp reed' or ;junction of two creeks'. (McCarthy; 1963). ( Aboriginal.) Supposedly named after the steamer 'Collaroy' which ran ashore on the south end of the beach called Collaroy Beach. Prior boundaries determined 19 Apr 1984 as per GNB2550/D.
