Beacon Hill 2100
A suburb about 2 km N of Allambie Hts and about 1 km W by S of Narraweena. An address locality. Boundaries and names within the Warringah Council area shown on map GNB3704. Three months after the first settlement Governor Phillip became the first white man to visit this area while looking for land suitable for cultivation. It was thought at one stage that this was the high point from which his party lit a beacon fire to signal to Manly. (Sydney suburbs, K Anderson, 1989). The hill, 146 m above sea level, was offically named when the Lands Department beacon was built in 1881. Prior boundaries determined 19 Apr 1984 as per GNB2550/D.
